Hello people...

current i've been looking up on Ti Springs.. From words of mouth its cheaper to get the springs from the actual website it self. I'm Not very sure about this.
DSP Ti springs are US $169.95

DSP producing its own shock? erm... i'm don't really know on this much. (well u can take a look at their PDF)

But it have the function that i'm looking for..

Hi/Lo speed compression

Rebound.

Bottom out resistance

Adjustable bottom out resistance volume? only on certain Stroke lengths. (only available for 3.00" and 3.50"

stroke length.

compared to DHX5.0 RC4, its cheaper.

For the DSP shock with Ti springs. 8.5" x 2.5 with 450lbs Ti spring = US $389.95

for the DHX 5.0 RC4 its like SDG $800+ without Ti springs. add Ti springs +$300 WTF!!!

But... FOX have a bottom out resistance volume adjuster...

Is that really necessary?

Should i just try out that Rear Shock?. or should i go for RC4?

First Ride of 2010

The first ride for 2010 was such an disappointment. The attendance was way to low. The initial confirmed attendance was approximately 8 - 9 person. But the outcome was only 4 person. Never the less we still got a good time in Pulu Ubin.

We hereby do hope that the attendance for all the ride in 2010 will always be full strength. Happy New Year!!! HUAT AH!!!

MTB101 Lesson 1: Rotor sizes

Dear Riders, below are some theories which i have read while doing my Final Year Project. Hopefully this will help us understand mountain biking better!

Larger rotors provide greater stopping power due to a longer moment arm for the caliper to act on. Smaller rotors provide less stopping power but it saves weight compared to using larger rotors. It is also common to run larger rotors on the front wheel and smaller rotor on the rear wheel. This is due to braking dynamics whereby most of the weight will be shifted to the front wheel during braking. This provides greater traction at the front wheel and allows for greater braking force. Conversely the weight shift off the rear wheel reduces braking force thus by using a smaller rotor at the rear saves weight and allow for better braking modulation.

So guys! it maybe pointless using large rotors at the rear cos the rear wheel will just float without traction to the ground as u brake due to weight shift to the front.

Almost the whole team went to Bike Asia @ Expo thinking of getting prize during the lucky draw. But f**k again, we did not get draw (not even a female saddle). Sian like f**k. The day before all the fun spoil but the rain.

Tampiness Trail

Raining but fun.. IFP at first still say rain dun wan to ride..but in the end he was the one who enjoy it most i think so..but most of us enjoy the ride.. it has been a long time since we rode in the rain.. the rain made the trail much more easy to ride.. but the trail nw is quite abandon.. the wooden berm is damage and the bridge is not rideable anymore.. tt is for the jungle trail part.. the rest is quite ok and rideable..

Kent Ridge Trail

first thing we see is fallen tree.. this time the tree is too big to clear.. so we made a detour.. kenny almost went into the tree.. as the starting part is kinda downhill.. the trail was quite fun and ok.. we consider KR is more of technical and the downs are fun.. there roots and rocks.. some parts are like wat u see in freecaster.. juz small parts.. and is going down.. so guys juz wack like wat u see in freecaster.. lol.. after 2 rds of XC.. we went to explore the southern ridges.. we din explore much.. but we found a flight of long stairs.. shld haf taken photo to let IFP aka GM see..he will be thrilled by the stairs with a combie of 5 hairpin turns or u can choose to wack down all the way.. HOWEVER U GOT TO PAY A PRICE FOR TT.. BUT THE PRICE ISN'T TOO BIG FOR US.. COS WE ARE WELL TRAIN IN TT LINE.. FOR THOSE READING.. JUZ RMB WAT'S THE MOTTO OF THE TEAM.. U WILL NOE IT.. HAHAHA..

Recovery of our team

As UCI downhill closes its season, our team is also recovering from the intense training through the yr.. though we onli join 1 comp this yr but at least we haf start the ball rolling.. and kenny even got top 5 in table which is a gd thing..cos our team reputation is slowly building up.. we will kinda resume full team training in dec.. due to the exams tt our team mates haf(all the best to ur papers)..

FOCUS FOR NXT YR
we will be focusing on ubin trail, kent ridge, and bt(p.s BZ this is ur key event), we will try our best in mastering the trails...esp Super D if the comp still goes on nxt yr..i hope more of the team members will go for the comp...is not a matter of skill or wat..we juz need more exposure to comp..cos we muz treat everytime we train like a comp trying to beat the timing we haf previously...so exposure is the best to haf this kind of this feeling..slowly build up the confidence and try bigger stuffs..so ubin and kent ridge will be good...so brandem u muz be more daring to take on challenge..falling is one thing..but most important is learn from it...so u can conquer the trail the nxt time.. so all the best guys..P.S MASS BUY IS ARD THE CORNER PLS LOOK OUT FOR WAT U WAN SO U CAN BE THE TOP POSER OF THE YR...HAHAHA..

One fine night while riding in town..kenny was relax riding his furious which is nw the target of all ppl..as his the onli one wif signatures of CG and Peaty.. nvr did he noe he would be caught in a "spike trap" .. he still tot where the gunshot came from..as there was a loud "gunshot" sound..

Well.. Yesterday really really nothing to do @ home.. went to jalan bersah to collect the bearings tat i ordered.

Came back.. fix bike then slack..

To Riders of ATP.. today after some random checks on full sus bike. i found out that some of the bearings for the moving parts of the suspension have been badly 'rusted' or 'jam'.

U might not be able to feel it or see it until u have dismantle the bike linkages. so riders of Team ATP. remember to remove your linkage to check your bearings. and service them every 2 mths. cause all the high pressure washing from the hose have pushed water into the seal. I'll be taking orders of the bearings soon. so do remember to take the ID and OD measurements of the bearings. and the no. on the seal of the bearings.

I would be on another project i'll be doing is to upgrade the eyelet of the shock. i'm going to install needle bearings on the eyelet this will give u extra smoothness on the bike suspension.

Another Project tat i'll be researching is tat change all pivot or linkage bearing's to roller bearings.. This is still under consideration. If its necessary or will just add weight. or will improve performance.

After months of off-road, we should schedule for one night street ride.
Our champion (Kenny) had been longing it for quite some time. So do you support this idea?

Kenny, please do up a proposal for the route this Saturday night and post it in the blog for all to view. Therefore we will cancel Sunday's Training.

then to telok blanga hill. we'll ride up then have a mini super D down..

Ending would be @ the petrol kios there.

after that we'll ride back to raffles then to kallang..

we'll make some stop point along the way. e.g lau pat sat.

highlight of the ride. is the mini super D down the slope.

Things to Bring: those with speedometer just bring.. to clock your max speed down.. $$. your stamina and your laughter. u might also consider your sunglases with yellow lense

helmet... as your wish.. i dun think i bring..

Attire wise.. i wearing long pants.. just incase i scared cold from the cold wind while going down the slope. i'm not brining water bag. i'm going light

YOYO!!!!

Team atp!!! GREAT news!!! excellent news!!!!

1) no. 1 downhill rider of team atp KENNY has proven his "POWERS" with a time of 2min 10sec, he missed the podium spot by justt a littleeee!!! how close is that for his first downhill competition! ZAI!!!

2) not forgetting our very own SUPER value added DENNIS, from last time push bike all the time to now stamina up speed also up downhill aso getting there!! clocking in 2min 40 sec for his very FIRST competition ever, DENNIS hung in there to keep paddling despite getting washed out and BUANG DED from the run. GREAT JOB!!!

3) ck leh, crashed and burn the whole way to a time of 2min 50sec! GREAT 1st time timing!! ( hahaha next run CONFIRM easy to beat this time! hahahaha )

anyways..... due to many many different factors, many of our atp members were absent,

old one getting married take picture...

Guys there is a competition coming up on 31st Aug 2008.. It is call Super D, though the prize is not attractive..but it can be a exposure for us..the race route is juz 500m so i strongly encourage u all to join the race..we will be going to test out the route on 16 Aug 2008..This could be the first time we will joining the race under our team name..maybe we might juz get some sponsors like tt..and get famous..haha..ok think too much liao..so guys try to be there on 16 Aug 2008 for the route familiarisation..

NEw Custom Shock Springs...

HEy.. Riders.. i've got my new rear shock springs... its weight is 581lbs round off is 580lbs

its still raw. but they even heat treat it for me.. my new springs is on the left while the old one is on the right. well there r some minor defects which is the spring is not proprely grounded. thus i have to manual grind it.

now i have a sag of 24% - 25% which is acceptable for freeriding.

the old spring i have a 32% sag which is too much for me.

Currently There is still no custom made of Ti springs yet,
only stainless steel and carbon steel.

which one is more lasting?
its the carbon steel.
Why?
cause u better do your own research.

For those who wants to make custom springs. pls feel free to contact Team- ATP member. Kenny. either under this post comments or in speak up chat box.

What will happen is that. u got to meet up with one of the member.
we'll take the measurements of your shock, springs, etc.
then we'll let u know what will happen next.
please allow up to 10 days for collection of springs.

Your spring will be in RAW finish. no colour coating. so take note.

we'll do currently rear shock springs. fork springs will be available shortly.

we have springs wire in different of 0.5mm

Price wise will not be more than $60 for length 200mm and below.

It's been a long time since we touch this trail..it has become more technical with the changes to the trail.. we din took photo or video of any sections of the trail.. cos we were too engross in the trail till we went 2 1/2 rounds..the 1/2 round was actualli the reverse route of the extended trail.. cos we found the extension aftermath..

we had a bunny-hop comp between dennis and nick(brandem's bro), it is funny video AND THE WINNER IS NICK!!!!!! BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME WE SEE HELMET MANUELLING!!!!!!

Wed night went night cycling with desmond, bang zong, jj chan, chuan kai and his dad..

My last min bike.. monty roadie.. it suppose to be a full ridge XC bike.. but still can't get the parts yet. tire size 2.35 for road. WTF man... can take n play motard

This is Bang Zong's bike GT Arrow head.. with 1.25 tire.. no wonder he can go damn fast.. btw he is fast lah.. i only can tail gate him..

This is desmond's new bike setup.. with 1.25 tire. this guy ah.. fitness also improve alot.. i only can see his tail light only

Last but not least.. this is jj chan bike.. use a off road tire. but still can keep up with the pack.. another solid guy in riding...

Hey to all ATP Riders...

Just want to know what are your Dream Wheelsets are. Where $$ is not a factor.
Just Create your Best of the Best wheel set. Including Type of Spokes, Nipples, Hubs and Rims.
And how u wanna setup.

Radial Lacing of spokes: Light (cause spokes r shorter than those in Cross lacing. easy to lace.)

1X, 2X, 3X, 4X : The difference in No. of Crosses is tat the More Crosses the spokes. the stronger the netting of your wheelset are. but more Cross = longer Spokes. (but take note. most of 32H hubs dun support 4X lacing only 36H)

Spokes also have Different Guages. 16g, 15g, 14g, 13g, 12g, 11g,
(The smaller the Guage the thicker the spokes are. Currently most of the bicycle users are using 14g.)
Note: There r Double butted spokes too.
(11g is those on motorbikes wheel.)
Different spokes have Different life spent also. There r: Phillwood Spokes, Sapim, Dt, Marwi. I can't think of anymore.

Nipples: They also plays a part in the stiffness of the wheel structure
(Alu,Alloy,Brass,Ti<--Currently dun have i think)
More info on nipples can go DT swiss website and read up more.
Another good nipples are "Spline" nipples Which need a special tool to turn the nipples.

Hubs.. As u know.. the no. of engagement. weight, strength.

Just put it under the comments.
And wat is the usage of the wheelset.

These r the pics tat i just change the chain ring, from the stock steel 38T to a XT 2000' 32T Chain Ring. For better torque and acceleration

Now the problem i see is tat i think i need to shorten my chain..
but i'm still not sure if a 34T would be better for my riding style.

Cause 32 might be a bit light.

sorry for the late updates dudes, esp for zhong..haha.. recently we have been riding into some army training grounds in sg.. during outfield, we always wan to try the route..but the route was quite fuck up.. though there were some fun parts... esp at sungei dong there.. there was this place like a dirt jump part..fun.. we also went for some river crossing during some of the trail..it was quite fun..pics will be upload once i get it from francis..

June will be our team back into one piece again..juz waiting for june to come..stay tune for more updates..

Going on a man-made trail in tampiness

tampiness trail was quite a fuck-up trail..the down is very little and gentle.. it does not have the feeling like u have in bukit timah or ubin.. but there was some fun parts in the jungle trail area. will take some pic of the "north shore", the nxt time we go.. kenny will be crazy when he goes there.. cos there is a wall ride which have a nice entrance and exit for him to play.. we did try but our speed was too slow and drop down at the center of the wall ride part... i think nxt time we can onli go and play tt section onli..haha..

after the XC ride, we went over to the BMX trail and ride.. we saw a guy and his hair looks like predator.. haha.. he was teaching some kids how to play 4X and it was quite interesting to see kids learning.. and we learnt tt they are going to join the YOG which will be holding in S'pore..

we oso play 4X and predator guy came over and teach us some tips on 4X like how to get ready and the tech on starting off.. it was quite fun.. think we haf to go for some underground training.. haha.. we haf some video on we playing 4X..

poor kenny can onli see the video..haha.. tt is the price to pay for being an instructor.. HAHAHA.
